Preparing for Your SSDI and SSI Hearing

If your claim for Social Security Disability Insurance Benefits or Supplemental Security Income has been denied, both at the initial application and reconsideration stages, you are probably very frustrated. You tried to provide all the information the Social Security Administration requested. You tried to answer all its questions accurately and completely. You know you cannot work, and you are hurting financially and emotionally. The next step in the disability process is to ask for a hearing: this is the most critical stage if you have been unsuccessful in proving disability until that point.

You are not just a number to us. We will work for you.

If you have not yet won your claim for disability benefits, having a hearing is very important. For many people, the hearing stage is the one at which they will succeed.

You will appear in front of an Administrative Law Judge. You will have the chance to sit across the table from the judge and go over the facts of your case. If you have trouble sitting for lengthy periods of time, the judge will be able to see you stand up and stretch during the hearing. If you have trouble focusing, the judge may notice your attention wandering. Even if your disabilities are not so visible, the judge will have the opportunity to actually see you and hear how your work life has been affected by your impairments. The hearing offers you a very important chance to pull all your evidence together and come face-to-face with the judge.

On top of all that, you have probably been waiting for this day for more than two years. It takes The Charlotte hearing office (The office of Disability Adjudication and Review) 627 days to process a claim. That means you will wait for your hearing for over 25 months.

At the Charlotte law office of Hempson & Zupanec, we know how important your hearing is. That is why we take your hearing as seriously as you do: we treat you the way we would want to be treated. We spare no effort to assist you at this step. We obtain all your recent and relevant medical evidence for the Administrative Law Judge to consider. We meet with you prior to the hearing so that you will feel prepared and know what to expect. In addition, we will give you a memorandum describing the hearing process in detail. We want you to be successful.
